Trench for a medium-voltage cable line

What we build

Typical MV and LV network projects

6–30 kV and 0.4 kV cable and overhead lines, transformer substations, HDD crossings and renewable connection infrastructure. Below are the projects we build most often and exactly what we do on them.

Our approach

From trench to handover — with our own resources

BUDNORM has been operating since 2024. We build distribution network projects to the design, the PUE (Ukrainian Electrical Installation Rules), current DBN (state building codes) and the technical conditions of the distribution system operator (DSO, oblenergo), with our own equipment and our own crews — as main contractor or as subcontractor for a defined scope.

We are preparing a portfolio of our Ukrainian projects with descriptions, photos and scopes of work for publication and will post it on this page soon. For now we describe typical projects — and are happy to answer questions about your specific task.

  • Our own HDD rig, excavators, cable puller and crane truck
  • As-built documentation and participation in commissioning

Cable lines

10 kV cable lines for new developments

Supplying new residential districts, commercial and industrial sites from the DSO network: trenches and HDD crossings, laying XLPE cables (АПвЕгП (APvEgP), АПвП (APvP)), installing joints and terminations, testing and as-built documentation.

Undergrounding

Undergrounding overhead lines in towns and villages

Replacing 6–10 kV and 0.4 kV overhead line sections that are in poor condition or obstruct development with cable lines: building the new line while the old one stays in service, switching over in outage windows agreed with the DSO, and removing conductors, poles and pole-mounted substations.

Substations

KTP, ZTP and distribution points

Installing packaged (KTP) and enclosed (ZTP) MV/LV transformer substations and distribution points (RP): foundation preparation, earthing, supply cable lines and 0.4 kV outgoing feeders, terminations, measurements and replacement of pole-mounted substations.

HDD

Road and river crossings by HDD

Trenchless crossings under roads, railways, rivers and drainage canals: pilot bore, reaming, pulling in polyethylene protective ducts. As a standalone service or as part of a cable project.

Renewables

Connecting solar and wind plants to MV grids

Plant electrical infrastructure to DSO technical conditions: internal MV cable network, transformer substations, connection point with switchgear and metering, cable line to the operator's grid, acceptance measurements.

Relocation

Relocating networks out of construction zones

Diverting MV and LV cable and overhead lines that obstruct construction of roads, railways or buildings, to DSO technical conditions: new route, tie-in to the existing network in short outage windows, removal of the old section.

Fibre

Cable ducting for fibre

The civil part of fibre networks: trenches and HDD, HDPE ducts and microducts, cable chambers, duct proving and as-built survey — separately or in a shared trench with MV and LV cables.

Overhead lines

MV and LV overhead lines

Construction and reconstruction of 6–30 kV bare and covered-conductor overhead lines and 0.4 kV lines with aerial bundled cable (SIP): poles, conductors, cable-to-overhead transitions with terminations, and removal of decommissioned lines.

How we run a project

From enquiry to commissioning

  1. 01

    Review and proposal

We study the design, technical conditions and bill of quantities, walk the route and prepare a proposal with a schedule.

  2. 02

    Preparation

Approvals from landowners and asset holders, traffic management, outage plan with the DSO, material supply.

  3. 03

    Construction

Earthworks and HDD, cable laying, installation of joints, substations and cabinets, switching and removal — by our own crews.

  4. 04

    Handover

Tests and measurements, as-built documentation and geodetic survey, participation in commissioning of the network.

Questions

Questions about our projects

Can I see your completed projects?

We are preparing a portfolio of our Ukrainian projects for publication and will post it on this page soon. If you need details now, write to us — we will tell you about the experience relevant to your task.

What voltages do you cover?

Medium-voltage networks of 6–30 kV and low-voltage networks of 0.4 kV. The high-voltage part of 35 kV and higher substations is done by specialist contractors; we build MV cable lines and the connections to their MV switchgear.

Do you work as a subcontractor?

Yes. We can take the full electrical scope or individual works — for example only HDD, cable laying or jointing. More on the For main contractors page.

What do you need to price a job?

Ideally the design or bill of quantities and the technical conditions. A route description with the voltage and approximate length is also enough — we will clarify the rest. Use the request form.

Have a project to price?

Send us the design or a description of the scope — we will prepare a proposal with a schedule.
